Our New All Natural RoseMary & Honey Conditioning Shampoo bar Has become my absolute favorite thing I have ever created. It has been working wonders on my hair the past month and, for those ladies and gentleman with African textured hair like me, this one was formulated specifically for us but I'm sure it will work on all hair types.
I created this bar to have great detangling and moisturizing properties. I am a minimalist so by avoiding plastics as much as I can in my day to day life as well as within this company, it was important for me to aid my new length of hair and thickness with a solid product waste-free that worked. I wanted to create a shampoo bar that would leave my hair moisturized and shiny. Conditioned without needing to reach for a bottle of conditioner but I also wanted a thorough clean that made me feel confident all bacteria was gone from my scalp. And of course, dandruff and other fungi is a big no no so I wanted to be sure my shampoo bar wouldn't cause those issues but would clear it all out.
I've noticed my scalp is especially sensitive to commercial shampoos and hair care products so being able to develop this wonder was a blessing.
I started on week old hair from the last time I used this shampoo bar. I generally wash my hair once per week and leave it in a protective style like braids. (If you are wondering what I used to get that sleek look, its the Loc Lovin' Gellie by Belle Butters! She closed up shop but I am rationing this like my life depends on it! Support Small Businesses!)
I start with an oil cleanse on my scalp with my own special recipe I've been using for years and drag it to the ends of my hair and into my scalp to break up excess dirt and loosen up my natural sebum. I then section my hair to make the work easier. I have tons of hair so washing in one large mass is a recipe for disaster.
The first thing I noticed this week was how soft and manageable my hair was. Sure, keeping my hair in braids all week kept it tangle free but my hair was softer than It was previously. I had been struggling with dry ends I had to clip once per month to combat single strand knots, however this week I had no issues. My hair did not dry out during the week and it still felt clean. and as you can see, It is shiny and not dull like african hair textures can sometimes look.
The dampening of the hair means also scrubbing my scalp with the already present oil mix with the pads of my fingers and dragging it to my ends.
A Method called "preening".
The honey in this bar in conjunction with the jojoba, Argan and sweet almond oil imparts so much moisture and "slip" that finger detangling is an absolute breeze for curly hair types.
Because I've done the "water only method" for the last 3 years of growing this particular head of hair, I've found the motion of starting at the root and dragging down to the ends of the hair to play a big part in moisture retention. I use no other products aside from a home made cupuacu hair butter that has only been in recent use as my hair has gotten longer.
This lather smoothes the cuticle and allows curls to clump together. Our essential oil blend of Rosemary, Tea Tree and organic Neem oil helps to reduce scalp bacteria, fungi, dandruff and promotes healthy hair growth my increasing blood circulation and the unclogging of the hair follicle.
Finally, we rinse away and get started on the next section. Twisting or braiding the finished section out of the way, you can immediately feel the smoothness of the cuticle and see the shine along the hair strand. With continued use, this bar can completely revitalize your hair and make it way more manageable and transform your moisture retention levels.
A handful of our other bars double as shampoo bars like our Carrot & Neem which some customers find great for both their hair, skin and body but also for their dogs and fur friends.
